Major Accident Prevention Policy
Our commitments under the Safety Management System we have established to prevent major industrial accidents and minimise their consequences.
To prevent major industrial accidents, minimise their consequences and ensure a high, effective and continuous level of protection, Sel has established and maintains a Safety Management System (SMS) that governs design, installation, operation and maintenance activities.
In line with our Safety Management System, and to prevent major industrial accidents and minimise their effects, we declare that we will:
- Systematically identify, using appropriate methods, potential safety hazards from internal and external causes and threats to the structural integrity of our facilities; quantify the risks of toxic release, explosion and fire arising from our activities; and provide the tools and resources needed to take whatever measures are required;
- Monitor and control the design of new plants, processes or storage facilities, the planning of changes to existing facilities and changes in personnel, in order to manage any change that could affect the control of major accident hazards;
- Regularly test and review the emergency plan we have drawn up, based on foreseeable emergencies, to reduce the impact of major accidents on human health and the environment;
- Set concrete, measurable, realistic and achievable targets every year to improve the performance of our Safety Management System.
Accordingly, we accept and commit to continuing our improvement efforts to ensure a safe and healthy working environment at our sites and to complying with all the requirements of our Safety Management System.
