Human Rights Policy

Our approach and commitments based on respect for universal human rights across all our operations and throughout our supply chain.

At Sel Dış Ticaret ve Kimya Sanayi A.Ş., we see respect for human rights as a cornerstone of our corporate value chain in every area in which we operate. We regard providing working conditions worthy of human dignity, safeguarding employee rights and upholding universal human rights in all our business processes as an essential part of our company culture.

Our human rights approach is based on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Global Compact, the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Guided by these principles, we are building an ethical compliance system that reaches beyond our own operations to include our business partners, suppliers and subcontractors.

As a global company exporting to more than 115 countries, we carefully monitor potential human rights violations across different regions and socio-cultural settings and put continuous improvement processes in place based on risk assessments. Our commitment to human rights therefore goes beyond compliance and is shaped by a proactive sense of responsibility.

At Sel, we do not allow discrimination on any grounds, including race, colour, gender, age, religion, ethnic origin, marital status, disability or sexual orientation, in recruitment, pay, promotion, training or any other human resources practice. We work systematically to ensure that everyone in our workplaces feels safe, respected and included. We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy on harassment, bullying and all forms of physical or psychological violence, and our grievance mechanisms operate on the basis of complete confidentiality and impartiality.

We take a clear and firm stand against forced labour, debt bondage and child labour. Employing anyone under the age of 18 is strictly prohibited, and age is carefully verified in every recruitment process. This commitment applies not only to our own facilities; it is clearly communicated to all stakeholders in our supply chain and monitored through regular audits.

Occupational health and safety is a prerequisite for protecting human dignity. Through our occupational health and safety management system, established under the ISO 45001 standard, we aim to provide all our employees with a safe, healthy and ergonomic working environment. We regularly carry out training, inspections and technical improvements to prevent workplace accidents.

Working hours, overtime and leave entitlements are arranged within the legal framework with our employees' work-life balance in mind, and we take care to review working conditions continually so that they improve employee wellbeing.

The right to organise and to bargain collectively is an essential element of international human rights standards. At Sel, we respect all our employees' freedom of association and will not tolerate any pressure on the exercise of this right.

Protecting the confidentiality of personal data and private information is also part of our commitment to human rights. Under Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) and our ISO 27001 Information Security Management System, all data is stored securely and shared only with authorised people.

We have set up transparent, accessible and safe grievance mechanisms to prevent human rights violations and to ensure that the necessary action is taken. Employees, business partners and other stakeholders can report concerns directly through these mechanisms. Reports are assessed confidentially and impartially and lead to corrective and preventive action.

This policy is made available to all our stakeholders as a public statement. It is reviewed and updated every year and integrated into our sustainability reporting. To make sure our human rights approach is effective not only in our internal processes but also in our relationships with external stakeholders, we regularly carry out awareness-raising, monitoring and improvement work across our supply chain.

At Sel Dış Ticaret ve Kimya Sanayi A.Ş., we see respect for human rights not only as an ethical responsibility but also as the foundation of sustainable growth and an essential part of protecting our corporate reputation.
