Social Responsibility Policy
Our commitments on employee rights, equality, fair pay, a safe workplace, ethical business conduct and a responsible supply chain.
At Sel, our aim is to offer our customers products and services of ever-increasing quality. Keeping our success and quality sustainable depends on supporting our employees, investing in the latest technologies, protecting the environment and, having adopted the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, acting in line with our ethical principles and company policies. To this end, we accept and commit, as an integral part of our business, to:
- Following local and international rules to protect the interests of our employees;
- Protecting all our employees' rights and providing them with a suitable working environment, raising our company's social performance and productivity so that we can offer customers products of the highest quality at the best possible prices;
- Continuous improvement to achieve our social and environmental goals;
- Defining the duties and responsibilities of all our employees in line with our objectives and with our mission and vision;
- Giving all employees equal rights and opportunities regardless of gender, religion, language or race, and preventing discrimination in all its forms;
- Recognising that all our employees work for our shared success of their own free will, and making no concessions whatsoever on coercion and forced labour;
- Opposing all inappropriate behaviour, attitudes, abusive language, shouting and punishment, and never adopting such practices as business policy;
- Allowing no behaviour or working culture that could lead to any form of harassment, and providing employees with training on this subject;
- Recognising that children are the pride of every family and the future of our country, and that their education secures the future of our country and our own success, and therefore employing no child workers under the age of 15;
- Setting working hours within the law; avoiding excessive overtime and, where workload requires overtime, never exceeding the legal limits; ensuring that all employees have equal rights to overtime and that no employee is forced to work overtime;
- Paying our employees above the statutory minimum wage, under a pay policy that is consistent with the fair wage analyses we carry out under BSCI and supports a decent standard of living;
- Providing our employees with a healthy, safe and clean working environment;
- Offering training opportunities that give employees the technical and behavioural skills they need to perform their current and future roles effectively, and supporting their professional development without discrimination;
- Inspecting and maintaining all our machinery and equipment at regular intervals;
- Providing employees with personal protective equipment and free on-site health services;
- Recognising our employees' freedom to elect their own representatives, listening to all their complaints and finding solutions;
- Respecting our employees' rights to organise, join a trade union and enter into collective bargaining agreements;
- Opposing all forms of corruption, bribery, conflicts of interest, money laundering and fraud, and showing zero tolerance towards them;
- Opposing and never allowing any action by employees to produce or use false information on behalf of the companies they work for;
- Taking the utmost care to respect employees' private lives and to keep their personal information confidential, never sharing it with anyone without their knowledge;
- Acting on the principles of transparency and accountability at every link of the supply chain on social issues such as respect for trade union rights, the prevention of forced and child labour, non-discrimination and safe working conditions;
- Treating working hours, pay policies and social rights, not only price, quality and delivery times, as core criteria in supply chain management.
Implementing this policy is a reflection of SEL's commitment. We expect employees and stakeholders in all our areas of operation to treat one another with the same care.
If any human rights breach is identified, we commit to launching effective and comprehensive response processes without delay and to continually reviewing and strengthening our improvement mechanisms to prevent a recurrence, and we work resolutely to uphold these principles in full.
Sel employees, business partners and stakeholders who directly or indirectly witness any unlawful activity or unethical incident can report it anonymously, without having to give their name or contact details, by emailing etikihbar@selsil.com.tr and/or calling +90 212 735 34 00 (ext. 240).
Important: Supporting your ethics report with evidence matters to us. Providing evidence when you report makes it easier for us to act on it.
