Polyurethane Foam Residue: Choosing a Cleaning Spray
Polyurethane foam can leave residue on surfaces during construction and repairs. A cleaner made for fresh polyurethane foam is a different product from a foaming household cleaner. Check the type of residue and the surface to choose the right product.

Cleaners made for fresh polyurethane foam are used on application guns and the surfaces specified in their instructions. Do not assume they have the same effect on cured foam. Household foaming sprays used to remove grease and dirt cannot replace polyurethane foam removers. Check that the product suits the surface; do not assume it can be used on every surface without causing damage.
What Is Foam Residue, and Why Does It Form?
Polyurethane foam residue is foam left in the gun and on surrounding surfaces during filling or installation work. Cleaning fresh foam is different from cleaning cured foam. Foamy residue left by cleaning products is a separate matter: a household foaming cleaner that removes grease and dirt must not be confused with a gun cleaner developed for polyurethane foam.
What Is Foaming Cleaning Spray, and How Do You Use It?
Household foaming cleaning spray removes grease, dirt and stains in areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. Selsil PAK Foam Cleaner Spray can be used on hobs, ovens, extractor fans, cooker hoods, kitchen worktops and bathroom cupboards. Its foam clings to grease on vertical surfaces, making it easier to wipe away. Foam cleaning spray is chosen for household grease and dirt; it is not used to remove polyurethane foam residue.
Oven cleaning: spray the greasy surface. Leave it to work, then clean with a sponge or cloth. If stubborn grease remains, you can heat the oven to 40–50°C and repeat the application. Selsil Pak’s superior foam clings to the oven’s vertical surfaces and quickly dissolves stubborn grease.
Cooker hood filter cleaning: add a small Turkish tea glass of cleaning spray to a container large enough to hold the filters. Add water heated to 40–50°C until the filters are fully covered, and leave for 20 minutes. Once the grease has dissolved thoroughly, remove the filters and spray them with Selsil Pak cleaning spray. Wipe with a sponge or cloth, rinse with clean water and dry before use.
Include Foaming Cleaning Spray in Your Cleaning Routine
Use Selsil PAK Foam Cleaner Spray for grease and dirt as part of your household cleaning routine. Spray a suitable surface, leave briefly and wipe with a sponge or cloth. Repeat for stubborn greasy dirt. Test on an inconspicuous area first and follow the packaging instructions. For fresh polyurethane foam left after construction or repair work, choose a separate foam cleaner suited to that task.
